At 64 years old, William Toel has a unique union of military, international business, banking and academic experience in consistently outstanding organizations. He is a man of unquestioned integrity with a mature international perspective. It has been consistently noted that he is a man of the highest intellect with superior communication abilities. These attributes have been successfully applied to solve increasingly complex problems that face us today. In the military, William Toel’s dedication to his country led him to become one of the youngest company commanders serving in the Army in the Far East during the Vietnam conflict. As a senior tactical officer he was chosen to teach and develop young officer candidates. In the international business realm he served nearly 10 years for a global corporation with operations in 45 countries where he was responsible for a budget of approximately $80 million. His verve and quest for continuing excellence allowed him to be voted the youngest president of what was then the nation’s second largest cash-grain exchange, successfully leading a diverse council represented by major international firms. Within four and a half years of entering the banking industry, he went from a trainee to president and CEO of a respected Arizona bank. He also originated innovative new banking concepts that focused on serving the community (now broadly copied), and as a founder and CEO led a new bank to the number one ranking among comparable banks. Without a Ph.D. he was invited to teach at some of the top universities in the country; the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), the University of Virginia, the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), Arizona State University and Bradley University. His ratings have been exceptional. William Toel’s teaching has often been called inspired: An innovative and highly effective teacher in international finance, and international marketing, with a deep caring for students. During this period he has assisted major corporations of various industries by consulting and creating innovative programs. Mr. Toel ran for the United States Senate in November of 2000 as a moderate independent. Through hard work, initiative, and marketing skill he was able to overcome the impossible odds of ballot access, and, without a political organization, was able to defeat two long standing parties and with 109,230 votes finished in second place behind the incumbent, Senator Jon Kyl. After the race Senator Kyl complimented him on the intelligent and dignified race he ran and offered to give him his highest recommendation if he were interested in joining the Bush Administration. In 2007 Mr. Toel was a candidate for Mayor of Pekin, Illinois. In 2006 Mr. Toel was asked to fill in as the Business Administrator and Director of Staff for the Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. In this role he successfully led the church through an $8.4 million dollar capital campaign, tightened fiscal policies and instituted an effective personnel evaluation system. Throughout the last forty years Mr. Toel has done direct leadership mentoring. This has included military officer candidates, a variety of corporate fast-track MBAs, and young promising athletes. |
